Chung: Dear members of the Korean Cleft Palate- Craniofacial Association
acfs-2018-02369i1.tif
As 2018 draws to a close, I am moved to reflect upon what I have achieved and what I have not achieved this year. I hope that you can take pride in many achievements, that your shortcomings are few, and that you profit from the remaining month to end the year on a high note.
It was indeed a year of turbulence both domestically and internationally. We witnessed many things that seemed unimaginable just a year ago, and we head into a new year facing many uncertainties. Despite the unstable and unfavorable circumstances that surround us, we should continue to focus on what we can do as members of the Korean Cleft Palate-Craniofacial Association. The Korean Cleft Palate-Craniofacial Association, along with our parent organization, the Korean Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons, faces hostility and challenges from other organizations in the country. However, thanks to the commitment and hard work of all members, our association has made leaps and bounds, growing into an organization of international calibre and status, and our journal is now registered in the Korea Research Foundation. We should carry this momentum into the New Year, taking this opportunity to enhance our journal both qualitatively and quantitatively. We should expand exchanges with other international academic communities and work harder on the promotion of our journal worldwide to help us achieve this goal.
I would also like to stress the importance of more frequent gatherings and exchanges among members through conferences to strengthen friendship and promote collegial spirit. We all know that personal bonds and a sense of solidarity matter when it comes to achieving a collective goal, and mere knowledge and formalities alone can only take us so far.
The Korean Cleft Palate-Craniofacial Association has completed its preparation for the next big step. We now need your active participation and support in the New Year. I wish you all the best for good health, happiness, and love for the year 2019.
